Overview
IELTS assesses the English proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used the language of communication .There are two versions IELTS test takers can choose either Academic or General Training modules of the test .
Both modules of the test consist of four separate components assessing the four language skills (Listening – Reading – Writing – Speaking) .
Duration
Listening (30 minutes) Reading (60 minutes)
Speaking (11-14 minutes) Writing (60 minutes)
Total test time: 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Audience

IELTS Academic IELTS General Training Measures English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher education environment. The tasks and texts are accessible to all test takers, irrespective of their subject focus. Measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and texts reflect both workplace and social situations. The Academic test is for those who want to study at a tertiary level in an English-speaking country. The General test is for those who want to do work experience or training program, secondary school or migrate to an English-speaking country. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.
